About

Welcome! I'm so glad you've stopped by my little corner of the internet. Here, I blog about lessons I'm learning in life, thoughts on various random subjects that I would love to discuss with friends, and some little things I find fun. I'm a scientist, engineer, and writer at heart although I'm currently working as a consultant. I like to think that those fields are not mutually exclusive!

Just a bit about me. I'm a twenty-something Christian girl who studied mechanical engineering in college and loves biology. I think that faith and science are not mutually exclusive, and I maintain my belief in intelligent design while studying biology, chemistry, and engineering. I also believe it's really important if you're going to disagree with others, that it's done while still remaining respectful. Everyone's entitled to think, right? Asking questions about the world around us is, after all, part of the way we learn. Not everything in life is cleanly packaged in a set of problems that are solved in series. Which brings me to the name of this blog.

If you're wondering what More Than Problem Sets means, let me explain. In college, I spent a lot of time working on problem sets. It's just a different name for homework, except slightly different in that problem sets always take the form of a set of questions that each have an answer. I realized though, that there's more to life than just school or work. I also realized that a lot of times, things in real life are not neatly packaged with a clear right or wrong answer. This blog is a record for myself to read in the future when I want to look back on where I've been. It's also my way of sharing life and all of its lessons - both pleasant and hard - with my friends. So please, stay a while and feel free to share in my sometimes exciting, sometimes ordinary adventures that are all part of living life!
